Creating the web site is probably the hardest part of the whole process. Not actually creating it, but having the content to put on the web site. Initially I reccommend that you keep it simple and try to create a site about something you have a lot personal knowledge on and have a keen interest in. This gets rid of the difficult part. You now have content. Easy hey. Web pages are created using HTML which is basically a mark up laguage that allows you to tell browsers what to do with the text that you want to display on the screen. It is rather basic and not very difficult to use. I remember seeing this picture of a homeless guy on the side of a street in the states somewhere with a sign made out of cardboard. On the sign it read, I will code HTML for food. Well it aint rocket science so I am sure he would have done a great job. There are numerous HTML editors available on the internet also, which make it extremely easy to create simple web pages. Probably the most popular is Dreamweaver produced by Adobe. It is a complete suite of web development products. If you want someone to get the ball rolling, you may want to hire a coder to create the page for you. Or even just a graphic designer to do the graphic design for the web site you want to create. I reccommend www.rentacoder.com as a starting point for you web site. I use them all the time and as long as you are not in any real hurry for a final product then they are excellent. Rentacoder allow you to place job requests online, setting a maximum price you are willing to pay. Once you have posted the job request, coders from all around the world start bidding on the job. Like I said as long as you are in no hurry for the site, you can take the cheapest quote, and just not sign off until your are completely happy with the work. Sooner or later the job will be completed or the coder does not get paid. Simple hey. Here are a few sites I have had developed using Rentacoder. |
